Amend the bill, as and if amended, SECTION 1, Section 44-41-610(B), page 3548-2, by striking item (3) in its entirety and inserting:
/ (3) The term 'dismemberment abortion'
does not include:
(a)
an abortion which uses suction to dismember the body of
the unborn child by sucking fetal parts into a collection
container, although it does include an abortion in which a
dismemberment abortion, as defined in item (1) is used to cause
the death of an unborn child but suction is subsequently used to
extract fetal parts after the death of the unborn child; and
(b)
an abortion when the unborn child has a profound and
irremediable congenital or chromosomal anomaly that, with or
without the provision of life-preserving treatment, would be
incompatible with sustaining life after birth. /
