AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 50-11-2110, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO BUYING OR SELLING DEER, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE HIDE OF A DEER LEGALLY TAKEN MAY BE SOLD, BOUGHT, OR BARTERED DURING THE OPEN SEASON FOR THE TAKING OF DEER AND THIRTY CALENDAR DAYS FOLLOWING THE CLOSE OF THE OPEN SEASON.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Hides of legally taken deer

Section 1. Section 50-11-2110 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 386 of 1980, is further amended by adding after "bartered" on line four "during the earliest open season for the taking of deer and" and by adding on line six before "deer" "latest". The section when amended shall read:

"Section 50-11-2110. It shall be unlawful to buy or sell, offer for sale, barter, or have in possession for sale any deer or part thereof except the hide of legally taken deer. Hides from legally taken deer may be bought, sold, or bartered during the earliest open season for the taking of deer and for a period of thirty calendar days following the end of the latest deer season. For a violation of this section, upon conviction, the guilty party for a first offense shall be fined not less than one hundred dollars nor more than three hundred dollars or be imprisoned for not more than thirty days; for a second offense within three years of the date of conviction for a first offense, such person shall be fined not less than three hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars or be imprisoned for not more than thirty days; for a third offense within three years of the date of conviction for a first offense, such person shall be fined one thousand dollars or be imprisoned for not more than sixty days."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
