AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE NUMBER OF MAGISTRATES IN AIKEN COUNTY AND THE LOCATION OF CERTAIN OF THEIR OFFICES AND TO REPEAL ACT 279 OF 1971 RELATING TO THE MAGISTRATES IN AIKEN COUNTY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Magistrates in Aiken County

SECTION 1. In Aiken County there are eight magistrates as follows:

One full-time magistrate for the Aiken area whose office must be maintained at a place to be designated by the Aiken County Legislative Delegation.

One full-time magistrate in the area of the City of North Augusta and Belvedere whose office must be maintained within the City of North Augusta or Belvedere in a place to be designated by the Aiken County Legislative Delegation.

One full-time magistrate for the areas of Graniteville, Warrenville, and Vaucluse whose office must be maintained in the Town of Graniteville.

One full-time magistrate for the areas of Clearwater, Gloverville, Langley, and Bath whose office must be maintained in a place to be designated by the County Legislative Delegation.

One part-time magistrate for the area of Beech Island and Jackson whose office must be maintained in a place to be designated by the County Legislative Delegation.

One part-time magistrate for the area of Wagener, Salley, and Perry.

One part-time magistrate for the Oak Grove, Monetta Wards area.

One part-time magistrate for the New Ellenton area.

Magistrates to continue to serve

SECTION 2. The special magistrate in Aiken County provided for by Act 79 of 1977 shall continue to serve in the manner provided therein.

Repeal

SECTION 3. Act 279 of 1971 is repealed.

Time effective

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
