The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
Almighty God, in Whom our forefathers put their trust and Who is the Source of all strength even today, we thank You for this great Nation, born in suffering, nourished in freedom, and built by a determination to forge onward and upward. We rejoice in our heritage. At the same time, grant to us a deep sense of responsibility. Make sacred our stewardship of greatness as a Nation. Give to all our citizens pure religion and refined patriotism. With Your benediction resting upon us, may we face the tasks before us with honest dealings, clear thinking, striving always to move forward Your Kingdom on earth.
We pray in the Name above every name. Amen.
