The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

As we continue to lay the groundwork for the approaching session of this House of Representatives, stay close by, O Lord, to undergird us in Your strength and to uphold us by Your power. In the confident knowledge of Your unfailing presence, make us to go about our work unafraid and sure that Your strong right arm will uphold us and Your impeccable wisdom will enable us. And when the hammer of Your purpose is beating out shapes on the anvil of time, may this our beloved State be fashioned into an instrument which reflects Your teachings and shows forth the principles and precepts of Your Holy Word.

Thank You, Lord, for Your blessings which come for certain because You are a good and gracious God. Amen.
