The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
Almighty God, Who never forgets or fails us, and Whose presence is our guarantee of strength and endurance, give us grateful memories of all who have kept the faith and fought the good fight. Save us from expecting too much and from accepting too little. Raise our sights above all that is base or ugly that there may come windows of insight which enables us to see what ought to be done. Give Your higher wisdom to those who make the laws, to those who execute the laws, and to those who protect us from destructive powers within and without.
In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
