AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 1-11-144 SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD TO PROVIDE HEALTH AND DENTAL INSURANCE COVERAGE TO REGIONAL TOURISM PROMOTION COMMISSIONS UNDER THE STATE HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Health and dental insurance may be provided
SECTION 1. Title 1 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 1-11-144. The Budget and Control Board through the South Carolina Retirement System is authorized to provide health and dental insurance coverage to regional tourism promotion commissions funded by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism under the State Health Insurance Plan. The employer may obtain coverage by applying to the board and by complying with the requirements established by the board. However, the benefits of the plan must be the same as those provided to state and school district employees. An employer electing to participate in the State Health Insurance Plan shall agree to participate for a minimum of two years. The board may adjust the premium rates during the coverage period based on experience."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
