The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
God our Father, the Source of our strength and Refuge of those who put their trust in You, keep us steadfast in the knowledge of Your presence. Make us strong for the journey of this day. Cleanse our hearts of all misunderstanding and ill will which are seeds of strife. Make us quick to grasp the hand of cooperation and every effort to strengthen our relationships with each other. Open to us doors of opportunity and give us the decision to walk through them. We rejoice that You are never far from any of us, and we take courage in the knowledge that we can never drift beyond Your care and concern. Make us always see Your teachings as the source of wisdom and the fountain of all good.
In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
