The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
Almighty and gracious God, ever present to be our unfailing Companion, give us courage for today and hope for tomorrow. Sustain us when our work is heavy; sharpen our insight when our way is unclear. Save us from despair of the past that would paralyze action in the present. Give us devotion to the challenges at hand and dedication for the future. Enlighten our minds with truth, enlarge our hearts with understanding and keep us enlisted in the struggle for what is right in Your sight.
We pray in the Name of Jesus and for his sake. Amen.
