A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO MR. M. HUNTER TAYLOR, A MEMBER OF THE SURFSIDE AREA ROTARY CLUB, UPON HIS ACHIEVING THE ENVIABLE RECORD OF A FORTY-YEAR PERFECT ATTENDANCE AT WEEKLY ROTARY CLUB MEETINGS.

Whereas, the members of the Senate were delighted to learn that Mr. M. Hunter Taylor, a member of the Surfside Area Rotary Club in Horry County, was honored on February 12, 1992, by the Surfside Area Rotary Club for his record of "Service Above Self" and an incredible record of a forty-year perfect attendance record at weekly Rotary Club meetings; and

Whereas, Mr. Taylor and his wife, Parrish Taylor, are both Rotary Paul Harris Fellows, Rotary's highest honor of recognition; and

Whereas, Mr. Taylor, who first joined the Bennettsville Rotary Club on February 12, 1952, subsequently was a member of the Marion Rotary Club and most recently the Surfside Area Rotary Club; and

Whereas, indicative of his distinguished record of service is his effort in leading the Surfside Club's effort to support the Rotary International "Polio Plus" Program aimed at wiping childhood communicable diseases worldwide, resulting in Surfside Club members exceeding their pro rata contribution to this worldwide effort that has raised two hundred thirty-one million dollars and immunized more than three hundred million children; and

Whereas, Mr. Taylor, a Paul Harris Fellow himself, has helped the Surfside Club to achieve eight Paul Harris Fellowships among its members, with forty-one additional members enrolled in the Paul Harris Sustaining Membership Program; and

Whereas, this distinguished record of achievement is a tribute to the community spirit of a great South Carolinian; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the Senate to pause in their deliberations so that they might honor so distinguished a South Carolinian and hold him up as an example worthy of emulation for all those actively involved in the many service clubs that perform such valuable work. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate express congratulations to Mr. M. Hunter Taylor, a member of the Surfside Area Rotary Club, upon his achieving the enviable record of a forty-year perfect attendance at weekly Rotary Club meetings.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. M. Hunter Taylor.
