A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 40-11-140, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE AND REEXAMINATION OF AN APPLICANT FOR A MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR'S LICENSE, SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE LICENSING BOARD FOR CONTRACTORS TO ADMINISTER AN ORAL EXAMINATION UPON REQUEST OF AN APPLICANT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 40-11-140 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 40-11-140. If the result of the examination of any applicant shall be is satisfactory to the board, the board shall issue to the applicant a license to engage in business as a general or mechanical contractor in the State. Anyone failing to pass such the examination may be given the opportunity to be reexamined once at any regular meeting of the board or any regularly scheduled examination without payment of any additional fee. The board is authorized to administer an oral examination upon request of the applicant. The results and a copy of the examination shall must be available to the person examined."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
