A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 2-1-95 SO AS TO PROHIBIT MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY FROM SERVING ON THE GOVERNING BODY OF A STATE AGENCY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 2-1-95. (A) Effective July 1, 1991, no member of the General Assembly may serve on the governing body of a state agency as defined in Section 2-15-50.

(B) The provisions of this section do not apply to members of the Clemson University Board of Trustees who are elected for life nor does it apply to a person until the expiration of the term he is serving."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
