A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 57-3-780 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE SEATING FOR PERSONS WHO, BECAUSE OF THEIR AGE OR INFIRMITY, CANNOT STAND FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME IN OFFICES IN WHICH THE DEPARTMENT REGISTERS AND LICENSES MOTOR VEHICLES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 57-3-780. The department is required to furnish adequate seating for persons who, because of their age or infirmity, cannot stand for long periods of time in those offices which register and license motor vehicles."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
