A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 6-11-310 SO AS TO AUTHORIZE A CERTAIN SPECIAL PURPOSE DISTRICT TO ENTER INTO A FRANCHISE AGREEMENT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 6-11-310. A special purpose district which serves twenty thousand or more customers and provides street lighting, fire suppression, and solid waste collection services may enter into a franchise agreement with an electric utility or suppliers."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
