A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE SOCASTEE HIGH SCHOOL IN HORRY COUNTY AS BEING ONE OF TWO HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE STATE NAMED A "BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL" AS PART OF THE NATIONAL SECONDARY SCHOOL RECOGNITION PROGRAM, SPONSORED BY THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

Whereas, Socastee High School in Horry County has been named one of two high schools in the State a "Blue Ribbon School" as part of the National Secondary School Recognition Program, sponsored by the United States Department of Education; and

Whereas, this honor was accomplished with hard work, dedication, and team effort; and

Whereas, Socastee was one of two hundred twenty-two middle and high schools in the country named "Blue Ribbon Schools" because of its academic achievement for the school year 1990-91; and

Whereas, Socastee competed nationally against not only public schools but private ones as well. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly wish to recognize Socastee High School of Horry County on being selected one of two high schools in the State a "Blue Ribbon School" as part of the National Secondary School Recognition Program, sponsored by the United States Department of Education.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Socastee High School Principal Myra Bryan.
