TO CONGRATULATE THE MID-CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASEBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 1991 STATE CLASS AA BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that the Mid-Carolina High School boys baseball team defeated a fine Chapin team 15-4 to win the 1991 State Class AA boys baseball championship; and
Whereas, this tremendous victory capped an outstanding 28-4 season for the Rebels and was their second straight victory over Chapin in the best-of-three series for the state championship as Mid-Carolina had downed Chapin 8-5 in the first game of the series; and
Whereas, the accomplishments of the team during the regular season and the district, region, and state playoffs, proved that Mid-Carolina has one of the most outstanding high school baseball programs in South Carolina; and
Whereas, the Rebels were led this year by Head Coach Clyde Livingston who is in his eighth year at the helm of the baseball program, and his remarkable gifts and talents as a coach are a big reason for the team's success; and
Whereas, another reason for Mid-Carolina's championship season was their runner-up finish to Barnwell in the State Class AA finals last year. This runner-up finish enabled the team to set a goal to go all the way this year and throughout the season they remained focused on this goal; and
Whereas, seldom has a team played with the kind of discipline, enthusiasm, confidence, and team spirit as did the Rebels during the 1991 season, and the accomplishments of the Mid-Carolina baseball team this year and the conduct of each member of the team on and off the field has brought deserved credit and recognition not only upon the players and coaches but to their school, district, and county as well; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate the Mid-Carolina baseball team and each of the fine young men who are members of the team upon the occasion of their truly deserved state championship. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate the Mid-Carolina High School boys baseball team for winning the 1991 State Class AA baseball championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Clyde Livingston, and the principal of Mid-Carolina High School.
