A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 57-1-95 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO CONSTRUCT SPEED BUMPS IN CERTAIN LOCATIONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 57-1-95. The Department of Highways and Public Transportation shall construct speed bumps for the control of traffic flow on roads which the department is required to maintain. The speed bumps must be located within fifty yards of a stop sign and within fifty yards of an intersection at which a motor vehicle accident has occurred. The department shall erect signs within one hundred yards of each speed bump warning of the bump."

SECTION 2.
