A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF MR. ARTHUR WASHINGTON OF CLARENDON COUNTY AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, Mr. Arthur Washington of Clarendon County died on February 18, 1992, at the age of eighty; and

Whereas, he was an outstanding member of the community -- beloved, respected, and admired by all who knew him; and

Whereas, surviving, among others, are his widow, Comilla J. Washington; a daughter, Annie W. Stocker of Hopkins; two sons, James A. Washington of Manning and Reverend Samuel J. Washington of Columbia; and an adopted daughter, Haulean Smith of Summerton; and

Whereas, we want the members of his family and his many friends to know that they are uppermost in our thoughts and have our deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses sorrow at the death of Mr. Arthur Washington of Clarendon County and extends sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Washington's family, in care of his widow, Mrs. Arthur Washington.
