COMMENDING THE ROSA CLARK MEDICAL CLINIC OF OCONEE COUNTY AND ALL THOSE ASSOCIATED WITH THE CLINIC FOR TEN YEARS OF OUTSTANDING MEDICAL CARE TO THE INDIGENT OF THAT COUNTY.
Whereas, the Rosa Clark Medical Clinic in Walhalla is nearing the end of ten years of operation; and
Whereas, the clinic is a "free clinic" offering diagnostic care and medication to the indigent of Oconee County; and
Whereas, the clinic opened on November 10, 1982, in the Dr. Booker building on South Church Street in Walhalla after a group of Oconee County citizens had seen the need for such a facility and responded accordingly; and
Whereas, to date the clinic has treated well over eleven thousand patients and has rendered superb care and medical treatment to those in need; and
Whereas, in 1986, the clinic was recognized by the Governor as one of four outstanding volunteer agencies in South Carolina; and
Whereas, the Rosa Clark Medical Clinic lays claim to being the first "free clinic" in the State and has served as a model for at least three other upstate clinics; and
Whereas, the founders of the clinic are understandably proud of the tremendous beneficial impact the clinic has had on the lives of the citizens it serves, and every person associated with the operation of the clinic deserves commendation, and thanks for the clinic's efforts and success. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends the Rosa Clark Medical Clinic of Oconee County and all those associated with the clinic for ten years of outstanding medical care to the indigent of that county.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the staff of the Rosa Clark Medical Clinic, Post Office Box 641, Walhalla, South Carolina 29691.
