A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 11-1-90 SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE DIRECT OR INDIRECT USE OF PUBLIC FUNDS TO PROMOTE, ADVERTISE, OR LOBBY FOR A TAX INCREASE AND TO DEFINE "PUBLIC FUNDS".

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Title 11 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 11-1-90. Public funds may not be used directly or indirectly to promote, advertise, or lobby for a tax increase. For purposes of this section, public funds are funds from whatever source derived of the state, a county, municipality, school district, or other political subdivision of the state."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
