Whereas, the State of South Carolina is blessed with a group of hospitals which are equipped to provide state-of-the-art care for patients suffering from heart disease; and
Whereas, one hospital which falls into this category is the Providence Hospital in Columbia and its Providence Heart Institute; and
Whereas, the Providence Heart Institute is the leading referral center for the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease and since cardiovascular services began in 1974, Providence physicians have performed over thirty-four thousand heart catheterizations and eight thousand open-heart surgeries; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and commend this outstanding hospital for its care and service to patients in the Midlands region and throughout South Carolina who suffer from heart disease. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend Providence Hospital and the Providence Heart Institute for the outstanding care provided to patients in the Midlands region and throughout South Carolina who suffer from heart disease on the occasion of National Heart Month during February.
