EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE JEANNIENE P. ROSS OF BLACKVILLE IN BARNWELL COUNTY.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Jeanniene P. Ross of Blackville in Barnwell County; and
Whereas, Mrs. Ross, in her professional career, served as an employee of the South Carolina Tax Commission, the Farm Bureau, and as a reporter for the Barnwell People Sentinel and the Williston Way newspapers until 1975; and
Whereas, in an active life devoted to community service, she held the post of volunteer coeditor for the South Carolina Republican Party newspaper, the Pachyderm; she also served on the South Carolina Archives Commission, as state president of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, as first secretary of the modern day state Republican Women's Club and held numerous state offices in the American Legion Auxiliary; and
Whereas, her community activities also included service in the Daughters of the American Revolution, the PTA, the American Cancer Society, the Girl Scouts, and various historical groups; and
Whereas, she was an active church worker in the Methodist Church; and
Whereas, her life exemplified that measure of service to state and community that adds immeasurably to the growth and betterment of society; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberation to note the passing of so distinguished a daughter of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly express sympathy to the family and many friends of the late Jeanniene P. Ross of Blackville in Barnwell County.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Daniel I. Ross, Jr., of Blackville.
