A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-65-55 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT HOMEBOUND INSTRUCTION MUST BE PROVIDED TO STUDENTS WHO CANNOT ATTEND SCHOOL DUE TO ACCIDENT, ILLNESS, PREGNANCY, OR HANDICAPPED STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN EXPELLED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-65-55. Homebound instruction must be provided in accordance with regulations promulgated by the State Board of Education for students who cannot attend school, even with the aid of special transportation, because of accident, illness, pregnancy, or who are handicapped and have been duly expelled."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
