The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
God of our fathers, Whose almighty hand has made us a great Nation and preserved us as a people, we thank You for our beloved Country and for the freedom for which she stands. Grant, Lord, that there be kindled within our minds a greater Love for our United States and our South Carolina, and a deeper Loyalty to the principles which are the foundations of our way of life. Keep us aware of our privileges in this place and in our time, and help us to discharge our responsibilities as altogether right in Your sight.
Thank You, Lord, for this period of prayer. Amen.
