A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF MR. LEWIS DAVID HOLMES, JR., OF TRENTON IN EDGEFIELD COUNTY WHO DIED SATURDAY, JULY 10, 1993.

Whereas, Mr. Lewis David Holmes, Jr., of Trenton in Edgefield County died Saturday, July 10, 1993; and

Whereas, Mr. Holmes, a native of Johnston, was a retired farmer and a pioneer in the peach and kiwi industries; and

Whereas, an avid sportsman and hunter, Mr. Holmes also very generously gave of his time and talents to his community. He served in many civic organizations as well as on the Edgefield County School Board; and

Whereas, he was a member of the Ridge Agricultural Club, a charter member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Johnston, past member of the Advisory Board of North Carolina National Bank, a member of the County Board for the Farm Bureau, and a member of the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Peach Council; and

Whereas, Mr. Holmes was an Army and Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, and a past Vestry member of Our Savior Episcopal Church; and

Whereas, Mr. Lewis David Holmes, Jr., will be missed by all who knew him as well as a grateful community that knew him as a man who worked unselfishly to make his mark in Edgefield County as well as South Carolina; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate are proud to have the opportunity to recognize the life of Lewis David Holmes, Jr. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate express their deepest sympathy to the family and many friends of Mr. Lewis David Holmes, Jr., of Trenton in Edgefield County who died Saturday, July 10, 1993.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Holmes.
