A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO APPROVE THE MISSION STATEMENT OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES SUBMITTED TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY PURSUANT TO SECTION 1-30-10(H) OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS, 1976.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The following mission statement of the South Carolina Department of Social Services submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to Section 1-30-10(H) of the South Carolina Code of Laws, 1976, is approved:

"The mission of the South Carolina Department of Social Services is to improve the quality of life of those citizens in need of its services by assisting those individuals to attain their highest level of independent functioning and self-sufficiency through the provision of supportive services which are family focused, contribute to the protection of children and the elderly, and which promote the well-being and preservation of families."

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
