TO CONGRATULATE ONE OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S MOST DISTINGUISHED BUSINESS AND CIVIC LEADERS, MR. ROGER MILLIKEN OF SPARTANBURG, UPON HIS INDUCTION INTO THE SOUTH CAROLINA HALL OF FAME.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that on February 1, 1993, at ceremonies held at Wofford College in Spartanburg, Roger Milliken was inducted into the South Carolina Hall of Fame; and
Whereas, Mr. Milliken is chairman of the Spartanburg-based Milliken & Company, the nation's largest textile manufacturer, long recognized for its leadership in research, technology, quality and service; and
Whereas, Roger Milliken is a native of New York, a graduate of Yale University, and has been a South Carolinian for over thirty-nine years; and
Whereas, Roger Milliken has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards for his leadership, service and generosity to his community, to his State and nation, and to education, and South Carolina and its citizens and students have benefited enormously from his contributions of time, talent and resources; and
Whereas, in becoming the forty-seventh member of the South Carolina Hall of Fame, he joins a group of people who have made significant contributions to South Carolina in their chosen fields and who truly deserve special recognition for their life's work; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend heartiest congratulations to this truly outstanding man upon the occasion of this well-deserved honor. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate one of South Carolina's most distinguished business and civic leaders, Mr. Roger Milliken of Spartanburg, upon his induction into the South Carolina Hall of Fame.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Milliken.
