TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS AND ADMIRERS OF ROGER F. MITTELBERG OF AIKEN WHO DIED JANUARY 17, 1993.
Whereas, Roger F. Mittelberg of Aiken died January 17, 1993; and
Whereas, he was a native of Quincy, Illinois, and held a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa. Mr. Mittelberg was also a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Instructors School and the Alexander Hamilton Institute of Business; and
Whereas, Mr. Mittelberg was educated as a chemical engineer but was recognized informally as Savannah River site's chief metallurgist; and
Whereas, a fellow engineer, James W. Taylor, III, remembers Mr. Mittelberg as a highly competent person whose skills took him to every "nook and cranny" of the plant; and
Whereas, Dr. Harry Groh, retired general superintendent of Dupont Works Technical Department speaks of Mr. Mittelberg's great contribution to the success of plant operations; and
Whereas, the Mittelbergs moved to Aiken six years ago from North Augusta so that Mr. Mittelberg could devote more time to golf, his favorite pastime. He took early retirement from DuPont, and Mrs. Mittelberg from her work as executive secretary of the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce; and
Whereas, he was a member of the Aiken Symphony Guild and the Sunrise Rotary Club. He was a past president of the American Metallurgical Society, the Aiken Assembly, and the Houndslake Villa Association. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church; and
Whereas, in North Augusta, Mr. Mittelberg had been a member of the Lions Club and the North Augusta Planning Commission. He was a former Sunday school teacher and member of the official board of Grace United Methodist Church. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate express their deepest sympathy to the family and many friends and admirers of Roger F. Mittelberg of Aiken who died January 17, 1993.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Mittelberg.
