A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-101-345 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT ALL STATE-SUPPORTED INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING, NOT LATER THAN THE BEGINNING OF SCHOOL YEAR 1995-96, MUST HAVE DORMITORY ROOMS OR OTHER TYPES OF SUITABLE HOUSING AVAILABLE TO HOUSE NOT LESS THAN FIFTY PERCENT OF THEIR THEN CURRENTLY ENROLLED BOARDING STUDENTS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-101-345. All state-supported institutions of higher learning, not later than the beginning of school year 1995-96, must have dormitory rooms or other types of suitable housing available to house not less than fifty percent of their then currently enrolled boarding students."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
