TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO TEXTBOOK ADOPTION, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 1592, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Board of Education, relating to Textbook Adoption, designated as Regulation Document Number 1592, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.
The proposed amendment will broaden the range of materials the State Board of Education may approve for use in public schools to include instructional technology and other similar materials as directed by House Bill 4115 passed during the 1992 session of the General Assembly, incorporate the use of the Curriculum Frameworks as an essential component in the review and evaluation of the materials by the Instructional Materials Review Panels, lengthen the terms and responsibilities of the Review Panels, and provide more flexibility for submission of instructional materials for Panel consideration.
