CONGRATULATING JESSE BROWN ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS SECRETARY OF VETERANS AFFAIRS AND COMMENDING HIM FOR HIS OUTSTANDING AND DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE.
Whereas, Jesse Brown was appointed by President Clinton as Secretary for Veterans Affairs and sworn in on January 22, 1993; and
Whereas, Secretary Brown is a splendid addition to the Presidential Cabinet and now directs the federal government's second-largest department, where he is responsible for a nationwide system of health-care services, benefits programs, and national cemeteries for this nation's 27.2 million veterans; and
Whereas, he is scheduled to be in South Carolina on May 1, 1993, to appear as the featured speaker at the Fifteenth South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus PROGRAMME: "A Year of Firsts... A Promise For Tomorrow"; and
Whereas, Secretary Brown is an outstanding government leader whose dedication and commitment to excellence in public service are now well known to all Americans. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Jesse Brown on his appointment as Secretary of Veterans Affairs and commends him for his outstanding and dedicated public service.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Secretary Brown.
