A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-5-4945 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR FULL REAR BUMPERS ON VEHICLES WHICH TRANSPORT MOTOR VEHICLES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 56-5-4945. Trucks, trailers, or vehicles which carry or transport motor vehicles must be equipped with a full rear bumper to prevent primary contact with the front windshield of a motor vehicle if there is a rear collision. As used in this section, `full rear bumper' means a rear bumper which extends from each side flush with the vehicle."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
