A BILL

TO PROVIDE THAT THE GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTENANCE OF PUBLIC PROPERTY WHERE AN ACCIDENT OR CRIME OCCURRED SHALL DISINFECT AND DISPOSE OF BLOOD, BODY FLUIDS, OR BODY TISSUE LEFT FROM THE ACCIDENT OR CRIME.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The governmental entity responsible for maintenance of public property including, but not limited to, roads and public buildings where an accident or crime occurred shall disinfect and dispose of blood, body fluids, or body tissue left from the accident or crime as soon as practicable after the conclusion of the investigation of the accident or search of the crime scene. Disinfecting and disposal must be conducted pursuant to Department of Health and Environmental Control recommendations.

SECTION 2. This act takes effect January 1, 1995.
