A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 56-3-1975, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO IDENTIFICATION OF HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACES, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A VEHICLE PROPERLY DISPLAYING A DISTINGUISHING LICENSE PLATE OR PLACARD FOR THE HANDICAPPED MAY BE PARKED IN ANY PARKING SPACE IDENTIFIED AS A HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 56-3-1975 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding at the end:

"The driver of a vehicle properly displaying a distinguishing license plate or placard issued pursuant to this article is authorized to park the vehicle in any parking space identified as a handicapped parking space whether the parking space is on public or private property."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
