CONGRATULATING DR. LEO RICHARDSON, PRESIDENT OF THE MORRIS COLLEGE NATIONAL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, ON HIS INDUCTION INTO THE MORRIS COLLEGE ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME.
Whereas, Leo Richardson, Ph.D, who serves with distinction as the president of the Morris College National Alumni Association, is to be inducted on April 15, 1994 into the Morris College Athletic Hall of Fame at Sumter; and
Whereas, Dr. Richardson was an outstanding athlete and student at Morris College and went on to become an excellent coach; and
Whereas, he has had a distinguished career of service and leadership which is evidenced by various civic awards he has received: Gem Award for Outstanding Service, Richland Sertoma Club (1988); Man of the Year Award, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity (1987); Who's Who Among Black Americans (1986); Distinguished Alumnus Award for Outstanding Achievements and Strong Support on Behalf of Alma Mater from Morris College (1986); Community Service Award, Black Educators of the Niagara Frontier, Buffalo, New York (1984); Community Service Staff Award, University at Buffalo Community Advisory Council (1983); and Educational Service Award, National Columbus Day Committee, Buffalo, New York (1983); and
Whereas, Dr. Richardson is a great product of an outstanding South Carolina institution of higher learning, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to recognize and congratulate him. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Dr. Leo Richardson, President of the Morris College National Alumni Association, on his induction into the Morris College Athletic Hall of Fame.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Richardson.
