A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE DORCHESTER ACADEMY RAIDERS ON WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION'S CLASS AAA GIRLS BASKETBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly were delighted to learn that Dorchester Academy Raiders Girls Basketball Team has captured the South Carolina Independent School Athletic Association's Class AAA State Championship; and

Whereas, the Raiders Girls Basketball Team finished the regular season with a perfect 23-0 record; and

Whereas, this outstanding team beat Pinewood Prep in the Regional Tournament; and

Whereas, with a tenacious defense and an awesome offense they defeated Thomas Heyward and then beat Orangeburg Prep for the State Semi-Finals; and

Whereas, the Lady Raiders won the 1994 State Championship defeating Robert E. Lee and ending the season with a 27-0 record; and

Whereas, the Dorchester Academy Lady Raiders Team for 1993-1994 included Amy George, Amy Hill, Jaime Sanders, Ashley Hartzog, Erin Dixon, Melissa Durr, Jana Norris, April O'Quinn, Jill Shuler, and Julie Anderson; and

Whereas, the team members' dedication, talent, persistence, and unity along with the excellent coaching of Head Coach Buddy Hartzog and Assistant Coach Frances Furtick, and with the support of their loyal Bookkeeper Alda Ayers, clearly paid significant dividends for the Lady Raiders by their winning this prestigious championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
