A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

COMMENDING AND THANKING DR. JOHN R. STEVENSON OF COLUMBIA FOR HIS EXCELLENT AND DEDICATED SERVICE AS SUPERINTENDENT OF RICHLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT ONE, AND WISHING HIM HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS FOLLOWING HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, since 1986, Dr. John R. Stevenson of Columbia has served as Superintendent of Richland School District One; and

Whereas, he has worked unceasingly, and with great success, in this capacity to place the district's schools among the very best schools in the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, he is widely admired for his administrative skills and for his efficiency and hard work; and

Whereas, Dr. Stevenson is committed to excellence in public education and has always endeavored to achieve what is best for the students of his school district so as to ensure them a bright and unlimited future; and

Whereas, he is retiring from the post of Superintendent of Richland District One in 1994 following a truly distinguished career in education; and

Whereas, the citizens of South Carolina are grateful for his outstanding public service and, as their representatives, we are very pleased to have this opportunity to recognize him for all of his contributions to excellence in education. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring: That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends and thanks Dr. John R. Stevenson of Columbia for his excellent and dedicated service as Superintendent of Richland School District One and wishes him happiness and success following his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Stevenson.
