A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE TRUSTUS THEATER FOR ITS EXTRAORDINARY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE AND WISH IT GREAT SUCCESS IN THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN.

Whereas, Trustus Theater, the Midlands' only professional nonprofit theater operating year-round, was founded in 1985 by Jim and Kay Thigpen; and

Whereas, Trustus Theater honored the Midlands and South Carolina by becoming the only theater in South Carolina to be accepted into the prestigious National Endowment for the Arts Advancement Program; and

Whereas, Trustus Theater consistently offers unique, educational, and innovative professional theater to the city of Columbia and to this State reaching out to the elderly, students, the physically impaired, and culturally and racially diverse audiences; and

Whereas, Trustus Theater currently is embarking upon a capital campaign to renovate the present facility on the Congaree Vista and to add a second theater space. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Trustus Theater for its extraordinary accomplishments and tradition of excellence and wish it great success in the capital campaign.
