A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 2-7-73, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENTS FOR MANDATED HEALTH INSURANCE BENEFITS, SO AS TO REQUIRE EMPLOYERS AND INSURANCE CARRIERS TO PROVIDE NECESSARY INFORMATION TO THE DIVISION OF RESEARCH AND STATISTICS FOR USE IN ANALYZING MANDATED BENEFITS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 2-7-73 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding at the end:

"(C) To provide a data base to use in conducting this financial impact analysis, employers and insurance carriers shall provide insurance coverage information and other necessary insurance related information as is required by the Division of Statistical Services in regulation. No data collected pursuant to this section may be released in any manner such that an individual employer or carrier may be identified."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
