TO RECOGNIZE MR. S. E. DIGGS, OF EDGEFIELD COUNTY, PRINCIPAL OF THE ORIGINAL DOUGLAS JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND PRINCIPAL OF DOUGLAS ELEMENTARY FROM ITS BEGINNING THROUGH 1975 WHEN HE RETIRED CULMINATING FORTY YEARS OF SERVICE TO EDGEFIELD COUNTY AND THE TRENTON COMMUNITY.
Whereas, Mr. S. E. Diggs, of Edgefield County, began his career in Edgefield County at the old Edgefield Academy, 1935-36; and
Whereas, in 1936, he became principal of the original Douglas Junior High School in Trenton where he served until its closing. As principal of the new Douglas Elementary, Mr. Diggs served there until his retirement in 1975 after forty years of service to Edgefield County and the Trenton community; and
Whereas, the Trenton community is honoring this fine gentleman, who gave so much to his community, at a banquet to be held Saturday, April 10, 1993; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate are proud to have the opportunity to join many friends and admirers to salute S. E. Diggs and thank him for the valuable role he played in the lives of many of our State's fine young people. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate recognize Mr. S. E. Diggs, of Edgefield County, Principal of the original Douglas Junior High School and Principal of Douglas Elementary from its beginning through 1975 when he retired culminating forty years of service to Edgefield County and the Trenton Community.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Diggs.
