The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
Our Father God, we thank You for this new day, for the promises it offers with its hope of accomplishments that it brings. With Your benediction resting upon us, cause us to face the duties that lie before us with zeal for what is right, with honor held high, and in the knowledge that the best is based on the teaching of our Heavenly Father. Undergird us all with wisdom, strength and courage. And in the end, give us a good conscience, the satisfaction of work well done, and the approval of Him Who calls us to service. Save us from undue anxieties and from wasting hours that could be used for timely opportunities.
And to You, Lord, we give all glory and honor. Amen.
