(Statewide Session)

Indicates Matter Stricken Indicates New Matter

The House assembled at 9:30 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

We thank You, Lord, for Your extended hand to us. May we seize it, and cling to it like filings clinging to a magnet, knowing that when we follow You we have no need to be overly anxious about the future. Dispel all worry from our minds as we have been taught that "worry pulls tomorrow's cloud over today's sunshine." Forbid that we should become so busy preparing for a rainy day that we miss today's sunshine. Lead us to be good examples for others knowing that the way we live is so often a child's classroom.

Hear us, Heavenly Father, as we pray in trust and thanksgiving. Amen.

Pursuant to Rule 6.3, the House of Representatives was led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America by the SPEAKER.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.

MOTION ADOPTED

Rep. ROGERS moved that when the House adjourns, it adjourn in memory of Elliott D. "Duby" Thompson, which was agreed to.

That the members of the General Assembly extend their sympathy to the friends and family of C. Heyward Belser of Columbia, former Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, who died Thursday, March 3, 1994.
