A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 56-5-5360, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO OFFICIAL INSPECTION STATIONS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES, SO AS TO INCREASE THE TOTAL FEES FOR THE INSPECTION AND THE CERTIFICATE FROM THREE DOLLARS TO SIX DOLLARS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 56-5-5360(d) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Section 1456, Act 181 of 1993, is further amended to read:

"(d) Official inspection stations may charge a fee of not more than two five dollars and fifty cents for each inspection and fifty cents for the issuance of inspection certificates. Provided, that However, if any a vehicle does not pass inspection at any a station and is taken to another place to have such defect corrected, the fee shall must not be charged again provided if the motor vehicle is taken to the station which originally made the inspection. Inspection forms shall must be prepared by the department and furnished to inspection stations at a cost of fifty cents each."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
