A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE JAMES ISLAND HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC BOWL TEAM ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR RECENT VICTORY IN CHICAGO.

Whereas, the members of the Senate note with great pride the recent intellectual accomplishment of the James Island High School Academic Bowl Team; and

Whereas, team members Ryan Cooper, Ben Hall, Brad Harris, Martin Tong, Julia Wang, and Teresa White devoted countless hours to practicing for the competition, including 6:15 a.m. practices and preparation sessions during vacation; and

Whereas, the team has exhibited its devotion to intellectual development and excellence through its dedication to perform well in competition; and

Whereas, the team has brought honor upon itself, James Island High School, and the State of South Carolina through its recent national victory in Chicago; and

Whereas, team coach Dorothy Meek has displayed a deep dedication to the scholastic development of the team members and has willingly sacrificed her own time and energy so that they might succeed and prosper; and

Whereas, the James Island High School Academic Bowl Team defeated seventy of the country's top academic bowl teams to win the national championship. Now therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the members of the James Island High School Academic Bowl Team on the occasion of their victory and wish them success in all future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Dorothy Meek and the James Island High School Academic Bowl Team members.
