A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE PROGRESSIVE CHURCH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST LOCATED IN LUGOFF ON ITS FORTIETH ANNIVERSARY AND HONOR THE MEMORY OF ITS ORGANIZER, SISTER MABLE SCOTT-ETHERIDGE.

Whereas, the Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ was organized in 1955 in Lugoff by the late Sister Mable Scott-Etheridge who encouraged its founder, the late Bishop Joseph David Williams, Sr., to start a mission to spread the word of God among her relatives and friends; and

Whereas, the congregation is celebrating its fortieth anniversary; and

Whereas, its organizer, Sister Mable Scott-Etheridge, served as a missionary for many years throughout Kershaw and Richland Counties; and

Whereas, Sister Mable Scott-Etheridge served as President of the Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ's Senior Women's Auxiliary Board for thirty-seven years; and

Whereas, Sister Mable Scott-Etheridge also served as a midwife and licensed practical nurse at the Old Columbia Hospital, Fort Jackson Hospital, and the South Carolina State Hospital. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the members of the Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ on celebrating its fortieth anniversary and honor the memory of its organizer, Sister Mable Scott-Etheridge.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the family of the late Sister Mable Scott-Etheridge.
