A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 58-31-85 SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE PUBLIC SERVICE AUTHORITY FROM EXPENDING PUBLIC MONIES FOR CERTAIN CONTRIBUTIONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 58-31-85. The Public Service Authority may not expend public monies for contributions to institutions, organizations, individuals, or other causes unless the expenditure is for a public purpose and relates to the purposes for which the authority was created."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
