A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE FACULTY, STAFF, AND STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS PROGRAM ON BEING RANKED THE NATION'S BEST BUSINESS PROGRAM FOR THE PAST SIX YEARS.

Whereas, the University of South Carolina's international business program has been ranked the nation's best for the past six years in U.S. News and World Report, surpassing other prominent institutions which include Harvard University, Columbia University, the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and the American Graduate School of International Management; and

Whereas, USC's top international business ranking brings honor and prestige to the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, the University of South Carolina's Master of International Business Studies (MIBS) program, the cornerstone of USC's international business program, has an economic impact of more than 10.4 million dollars a year on the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, USC's international business program attracts some of the nation's top business students to the State, many of whom work for South Carolina companies or have started their own businesses in the State; and

Whereas, MIBS students serve as interns for corporations worldwide, acting as ambassadors for USC and the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, international business faculty conduct research that has applications for national and state businesses, bringing positive publicity to South Carolina in many prominent publications including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and the Charlotte Observer. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the faculty, staff, and students of the University of South Carolina's international business program on receiving top honors from U.S. News and World Report for the past six years.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. John M. Palms, President of the University of South Carolina and Dr. David L. Shrock, Dean of the College of Business Administration.
