A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE JOHN H. KELLEY OF WALHALLA UPON BEING NAMED "1995 ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR" BY THE NATIONAL AMERICAN SCHOOL COUNSELOR ASSOCIATION.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that John H. Kelley of Walhalla has been named "1995 Advocate of the Year" by the National American School Counselor Association; and

Whereas, he is the assistant superintendent for elementary instruction for the School District of Oconee County and his innovative contributions to the county's elementary guidance program is one of the major factors in his being honored in this manner; and

Whereas, John Kelley is a former teacher and guidance counselor, a product of Oconee's public schools, and a graduate of Anderson College, Central Wesleyan College, and Clemson University. He is widely respected throughout South Carolina for his ability and skills in his chosen field and also is an active civic and church leader in his home community; and

Whereas, the National American School Counselor Association is a sixty thousand member organization and for purposes of these awards solicited nominations from all fifty states with John Kelley being the only winner from South Carolina in any category; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this very able and respected educator upon his receipt of this truly deserved award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate John H. Kelley of Walhalla upon his being named "1995 Advocate of the Year" by the National American School Counselor Association.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Kelley.
