A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXTENDING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE ODYSSEY OF THE MIND TEAM FROM LEXINGTON INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL WHO TOOK TOP HONORS IN THE ODYSSEY OF THE MIND WORLD FINALS HELD IN KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly have learned that a team from Lexington Intermediate School has won top honors in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals held in Knoxville, Tennessee; and

Whereas, the Odyssey of the Mind Competition pits students from the third grade through high school in tests of mental agility and creativity; and

Whereas, this team from Lexington Intermediate School won by scoring high marks for a time-travel skit involving a family of mice, a tricky cat, and a wiggy Ben Franklin entitled "It's About Time"; and

Whereas, this team improved its twentieth-place finish last year by winning top honors in a fifty-four team division; and

Whereas, these young students are to be commended for snaring top honors in this prestigious event which brings notoriety to Lexington Intermediate School, Lexington County, and to the Palmetto State; and

Whereas, the members of the team include Debra Crews, Josh Foust, Stephanie Graham, Alan Hudson, Foster Mathews, Sarah Nichols, and Leigh Pointdexter. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the Sate of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Odyssey of the Mind Team from Lexington Intermediate School for taking top honors in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Janice M. Duncan, Principal of Lexington Intermediate School.
