A HOUSE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING LUGOFF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OF KERSHAW COUNTY ON BEING SELECTED AS A RECIPIENT FOR ONE OF THE 1995 "PALMETTO'S FINEST" AWARDS AND ALSO ON BEING NAMED A WINNER IN REDBOOK'S "AMERICA'S BEST SCHOOLS PROJECT".

Whereas, Lugoff Elementary School of Kershaw County recently received the highest award presented to South Carolina elementary schools; the South Carolina Association of Elementary and Middle School Principals named Lugoff Elementary as one of the State's three winners in the "Palmetto's Finest" competition for 1995; and

Whereas, the school's innovative and successful programs enabled it to be named a winner in Redbook Magazine's "America's Best Schools Project"; of the 481 elementary schools nationwide submitting nomination packets to Redbook, Lugoff Elementary was one of the 142 elementary schools in the country that received the honor; and

Whereas, the principal of Lugoff Elementary School is Dr. James Ann Lynch; and

Whereas, the principal, teachers, staff, students, and parents of this outstanding school are to be commended for their dedication to quality education which enabled them to receive these two prestigious awards. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Lugoff Elementary School of Kershaw County on being selected as a recipient for one of the 1995 "Palmetto's Finest" awards and also on being named a winner in Redbook's "America's Best Schools Project".

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Lugoff Elementary School, in care of Dr. James Ann Lynch, principal.
